Caspian Tern

Provided here are in-season weekly reports and background information on a study investigating the impacts of piscivorous waterbirds (i.e., terns, cormorants, gulls, and pelicans) on the survival of juvenile salmonids in the lower Columbia River (Click here to see map of study area). These data were collected by researchers from Oregon State University, U.S. Geological Survey, and Real Time Research, Inc. with funding from the Bonneville Power Administration and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Weekly reports are provided to monitor and evaluate the 2007 Caspian Tern Management Plan . Other data on unmanaged bird populations (i.e., double-crested cormorants, glaucous-winged/western gulls, California gulls, ring-billed gulls, brown pelicans, and white pelicans) are being collected by the research team and will be made available at the conclusion of the field season in our 2007 Draft Season Summary.
